Powering up holiday rentals: HCH and VoltShare collaborate

VoltShare Holiday Cottage Handbook

Holiday Cottage Handbook and VoltShare have announced a strategic collaboration to help short-term rental hosts and owners meet the growing demand for EV charging solutions while unlocking new revenue opportunities.

Demand for EV charging is growing among guests as the number of electric cars on the road continues to increase. Awaze CEO, Henrik Kjellberg, recently named EV chargers as one of the key amenities for holiday rentals.

Plus, in addition to providing a valuable guest service, an EV charger is also an opportunity to earn upselling revenue.

VoltShare: the host journey

Following installation (initial cost: £1,200-£2,000), hosts and property managers can benefit from the following:

  • Set your pricing: control your own pricing and monitor usage via the VoltShare app.

  • Generate income: earn additional revenue whenever your guests use the charger.

  • No contracts: the solution is pay-as-you-go, with no long-term contracts or subscription fees.

  • Customer support: responsive customer support that reflects well on your venue.

The installation costs tend to be recouped within 9-12 months, while it is also possible to offer your EV charger to non-guests in order to earn extra revenue.

VoltShare: the guest journey

  • Step 1: use your web browser or the VoltShare smartphone app.

  • Step 2: scan the QR code or select an available point on the map.

  • Step 3: add a valid payment card and click on ‘start charging’. The solution is pay-as-you-go.

  • Step 4: the platform shows the total session cost and payment is processed instantly.

As part of this partnership, anyone who approaches VoltShare via HCH will receive:

  • A £50 plus VAT discount on the cost of their EV charger installation.

  • A complimentary professionally made aluminium sign, worth £100, featuring instructions and a helpline for guests.
