How to achieve success as an Airbnb co-host

Airbnb co-host

Airbnb's new Co-Host Network, unveiled during its 2024 Winter Release, aims to make hosting more accessible and collaborative. The platform connects experienced co-hosts with property owners looking for extra support in managing their listings. By leveraging the expertise of local co-hosts, Airbnb hopes to streamline the hosting process, enhance guest experiences, and provide a valuable resource for hosts who want to grow their business or simply need help with day-to-day operations.

Here are some top tips for achieving success as an Airbnb co-host:

Maintain your rating

You must have a rating of 4.8 or higher on Airbnb in order to join the Co-Hosting Network. Your profile will be hidden from the platform if your rating drops below 4.7. If your rating falls below 4.5, your profile may be terminated. If you are removed from the platform, you will be able to reapply again once you meet the eligibility criteria.

Respond to inquiries quickly

Airbnb will expect you to respond to all co-hosting inquiries within 24 hours. Your response rate is the percentage of new requests that you respond to within 24 hours over the past 90 days. Check your dashboard and notifications regularly to ensure you never miss a lead as you may be temporarily hidden from the platform if your response rate falls below 90%. If you are unable to respond to messages during a specific timeframe, you can email Airbnb and ask them to temporarily hide your profile.

Create a compelling profile

Your profile is your best marketing tool. Fill it out completely to help hosts understand the services your provide. Follow these guidelines for your profile photo to help you create an optimum listing:

  • You should be the only person in the photo and centered in the frame.

  • Use a high resolution, portrait orientation, with room to crop.

  • Simple background with natural light (outdoor shade works well).

  • Not a selfie (ask someone to take it for you, or use a timer).

  • No flash lighting, backlights, logos, or overly wide pictures.
