A couple of months ago, Siddhi Mittal – Co-Founder of private chef booking platform yhangry – reached out to me on LinkedIn (writes HCH Founder, James Varley).
Siddhi was keen to know more about the short-term rentals industry as she noticed guests at holiday rentals were booking private chefs in their droves.
I said I wasn't surprised as upselling tactics are becoming more and more popular in the industry, with hosts searching for ingenious ways to boost their revenue. Additionally, thanks to upselling platforms, it is easier than ever to offer extra services to guests while earning a cut.
Siddhi and I discussed all sorts of collaboration ideas and decided the best route to showcasing our brands would be an exclusive dinner for STR professionals. Last week, our plans came to fruition – and I'm delighted to report it was a roaring success.
The only thing better than the delicious food – cooked by Chef Vijayen, who is cordon bleu trained and has worked at two Michelin starred restaurants – was the company and conversation. What a joy it was to mix with industry pros in an informal setting.
We were also treated to an incredible performance from Ruth Harley, who while training to be an opera singer is also working with Smiling House Luxury. The song was an amazing version of 'Happy Birthday' for Suzanne Luscombe and Lydia Summers (both 21 recently).
